Product Introduction – Newlaz VIN Code Laser Marking Character Depth Detection System

Time:2024-8-10

Foreword

The Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) has unique worldwide vehicle identification. In the automotive body-in-white production process, the VIN code must meet certain requirements. To monitor the quality of VIN code laser marking, inspection is necessary. Due to material and other factors, marked characters may vary in height and depth. The VIN code laser marking process is thermal and prone to defects. Real-time 3D depth detection of marking results is needed. Newlaz VIN Code Laser Marking Character Depth Detection System measures the depth of laser-marked characters. Through sampling and measurement, the depth variation and average depth of each character can be calculated accurately.

I. System Introduction

The system mainly includes a 3D camera, an industrial personal computer (including the vision software:NewVision-M3), and a robot (PLC equipment, optional). The system topology is shown in the figure below. The high-resolution 3D camera realizes high-precision point cloud data acquisition of the characters. The control cabinet (including the industrial personal computer) connects the robot and the vision communication, controls the camera image acquisition and character information output. The vision measurement software NewVision-M3 realizes the character depth measurement and the detection of foreign objects on the marking surface (before marking).
